Hello everyone!
In light of the extended closing due to COVID-19, I am providing a set of instructions and resources for review of all content previously taught this year. Please note, that any work assigned after 3/12/2020 is completely optional and due dates will be adjusted as needed. Review lessons will be posted on Study Island later today. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need your login information. The following standards will have review lessons available online:
PS.1- Science Skills
PS.2- The Nature of Matter
PS.3- History of Atomic Structure
PS.4- Organization of Periodic Table
PS.5- Physical and Chemical Changes
PS.6- Forms of Energy
PS.7- Thermal Energy
PS.8- Sound
PS.9- Light
PS.10- Force, Motion, Work and Power
Please note that PS.10 had not been assessed yet at the time of the school closure. We have not yet instructed PS.11- Electricity and Magnetism, so there is no review lesson assigned for that. In addition to Study Island, there is a document posted on my Documents and FIles page titled "Virtual Learning" that has resources to support instruction at home. Please do not hesitate to contact me at morrows@pwcs.edu if you have any further questions.
In addition to the resources above, these 10 Quizizz cover material that we have already learned in class. They do not have to be done in any particular order and they will not be graded. Welcome to 8th Grade Science! This is my 9th year teaching. I began as an elementary teacher in Fairfax County. I moved to PWCS three years ago as a Fifth Grade Teacher at Westridge Elementary. This is my first year teaching middle school. I received my BA in Psychology from George Mason University and my MS in Education from Radford University. I live in Lake Ridge with my husband, three year old daughter, dog, cat and fish. My hobbies include reading, going to the beach and watching sports. My favorite teams are the Washington Nationals and the Green Bay Packers. I am particularly passionate about Science, especially physics. I am looking forward to a great year together!
